We like to use all of our mares. We want horses that work well, are easy to train, and quick to please. A horse that does not have what we call “bottom” will not produce colts that have endurance. It is important that mares have as good as qualities as the sire. We are working to preserve some of the old lines of the LU Ranch and the Cross Ranch. We invite you to view the bloodlines of these older mares. We are also bringing in some different lines to develop some qualities that are athletic, as well as give a good disposition. These decisions are based from years of observation as well as talking to some of the old timers who have worked with Morgans for 40 years or more. We have some mares who go back to the LU Sheep Ranch of over 60 years ago. We have several older mares that go directly back to Morgan Horse Association #6400 and #6401. While color is a plus, we don’t sacrifice conformation and disposition for color. Many of our older mares are past raising a foal, but we have their daughter or grand-daughter in the line up.

R Anchor Burnished Beauty (we call her Bernie) was obtained from a good friend, Larry Ash who now lives in Ohio. He bought Bernies mother, Princess when Princess was a foal. We were able to get Princess back at the same time we bought Bernie. She is an awesome additon to our bloodlines. Bernies is heavy in the Robbi-Sue lines and we had her sire here at our ranch for awhile. She will be bred this year of (2017) to Silver Suede.

Windy is one of the most beautiful mares we have. She is typical of the old Morgan line, compact and solid built. Her grand dam was Syringa Krystal Spring, and there was never a finer mare than “Krystal.” Every foal that Windy puts on the ground is beautiful.

Princess is one of our old mares we sold and have now purchased back. Coming from the old Dvarishkis Morgan line, she brings with her some rare blood.
